HAVRE DE GRACE, MD

Welcome! Explore! Enjoy!

Havre de Grace and Harford County sit conveniently close to Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Wilmington and your exploration is just an exit away. Our many destinations are all just minutes from I-95. Historic Havre De Grace (exit 89) is the place Southern Living Magazine dubbed the Duckiest Town on the Chesapeake! That could be because the happy, small-town atmosphere makes all who visit the waterfront town feel... well... just ducky!

Havre de Grace also happens to be the home of the Duck Decoy Museum that tells the story of the town's rich heritage of waterfowl carving and hunting. The Concord Point Lighthouse, the town's most well-known landmark, has served as a beacon for visitors since 1827. Views of the lighthouse as well as expansive views of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay, can be enjoyed from the town's waterfront boardwalk promenade. As you stroll along the promenade be sure to visit The Maritime Museum devoted to celebrating boat building and the Watermen's way of life.

Aboard the Skipjack Martha Lewis, retrace the steps of this vanishing breed, through their many scheduled cruises. The Martha Lewis is one of the last oyster boats to fish commercially, under sail, in the United States. The Susquehanna Museum of Havre de Grace at the Lock House tells the story of the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal and the history of Havre de Grace. Visitors may see an authentic Lock and Lock Tender's house. Take another step back in time at the Steppingstone Museum, which preserves and demonstrates the rural arts and crafts of the 1880-1920 period. The Steppingstone Museum is one of several historic attractions located at Susquehanna State Park.

Located just three miles northwest of Havre de Grace the Park offers camping, trails, picnicking and more! Elegant inns, restaurants, cafes, antique shops and galleries keep downtown Havre de Grace vibrant with activity. Havre de Grace is also home to Bulle Rock, one of the few 5 star rated golf facilities in the country. Bulle Rock is now home to the McDonald's LPGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola one of four majors on the ladies' professional tour.

Just five miles west of Havre de Grace is Aberdeen (exit 85), an all-American City. Be sure to catch an Ironbirds baseball game at Ripken Stadium-built by hometown hero, Cal Ripken, Jr. Head over to the Aberdeen Proving Ground and drive the "Mile of Tanks" and explore the 25-acre Tank and Artillery Park. Take a self-guided tour of the world-class U.S. Army Ordnance Museum, which houses more than 8,000 artifacts.

In a short scenic drive discover Darlington (exit 89), home of the famous Apple Festival. The country roads of Northern Harford County are peppered with horse farms, orchards, and produce markets. Experience the timeless art of wine making at Fiore Winery (exit 80). Fiore Winery invites you to tour, picnic and sample their exceptional vintages.

A short drive to Bel Air (exit 77) and you've arrived at the seat of Harford County. Charming restaurants and shops line Main Street. Be sure to stop by the stately Liriodendron Mansion, built in 1898 and maintained as a museum. Visit Tudor Hall, home of the Booth family: Junius Brutus Booth and his son, Edwin, who made their marks of distinction as Shakespearean actors, while another son, John Wilkes, made his mark for his role in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

The Ladew Topiary Gardens (exit 74), called "the most outstanding topiary garden in America." Monkton, features a breathtaking blend of topiary and natural plants, water, architecture and sculpture. Nearby historic Jerusalem Mill Village, an 18th & 19th century preserved community in Gunpowder Falls State Park, presents costumed interpreters in the Blacksmith Shop and Gun Shop.

So, take your time and discover all that we have to offer. With over 200 special events there is always something happening in our area.
